Wasteland Kings

Have you ever read from a past journal? While I have many journals filled with words, I don’t tend to go back and look at them. There was an exercise in my Regen bookwork which kind of forced me to do this though. At the end of Step One, they asked us to write a letter to ourselves. A part of last weeks bookwork (we’re on Step 12 now) was to go back and look at that letter. The contents surprised me. I expected to find changes and yet I didn’t think the changes would be so dramatic. To clarify…

If you remember my post from last week, I talked about how a trailer on YouTube happened to have some inspiring truth. Last week’s post talked about the real battle in our lives being the one against ourselves. For this week, we’re discussing the followup truth that might be just as important. In the trailer, there’s a follow up statement to the line ‘the mountain is just a backdrop for you against yourself. The following statement is ‘It’s as far as you want to take it.” This statement is important for us because it applies to our relationship with Jesus…

I was scrolling through YouTube the other day and came across this trailer. It’s pretty awesome. There’s a few aspects which stood out to me and yet the quote at the end is what hits my heart the hardest. It’s as far as you want to take it.’ Both of those sentences are great and I’m going to tackle one at a time. If I don’t have enough space to deal with both, I’ll just have to come back to the second one next week. So…

I don’t tend to be a ‘stop and smell the roses’ kind of guy. I enjoy the smell of roses and I’ll take a moment to enjoy them. This endeavor will have a hard time distracting me from whatever goal I am charging towards though. When I wake up most days, I ask myself what are things I have to get done today and what are today’s highlights. These highlights don’t have to be jumping out of a helicopter and snowboarding down a mountain. They can be spending time with friends or seeing a great movie. The events themselves don’t…

I pulled air in and let it out. This seemed so simple. It also seemed impossible. What would lie on the other side? Would there would be rejection? Maybe it will just be a bunch of anger. Could they ever love me the same way they have in the past? I’ve done amends with three people so far; it’s the central part of the 9th Step of Regeneration. None of them have been easy. The process of actions, thoughts, and questions I described above happened each time. I was so nervous for one of the amends meetings I left thirty…
